The first phase (Phase I) of the Bauxite Community Development Programme (BCDP) commenced in October 1996 and continued through to November 1997 with a total allocation of $30 million. The BCDP programme went into its second phase (Phase II) in December 1997. Some $20 million was allocated in Phase II which continued until November 1999. Phase III of the BCDP began in December 1999 with an allocation of some $60 million and continued through to March 2002. Phase IV, commenced in April 2002, and ended in December 2005. A total of $80 million was allocated for Phase IV of the BCDP.
