Scholarship Background

The Jamaica Bauxite Institute is responsible for ensuring the sustainable development of communities that are impacted by bauxite mining and alumina processing operations. This is activity is primarily carried out through the Bauxite Community Development Programme (BCDP), a programme that began in 1996, to reinvest bauxite industry earnings into communities as well as providing general sustainable project support for residents in these communities.
