Total bauxite production continued to decline in November largely due to the suspension of Alpart’s operations. The estimated two year suspension is aimed at facilitating the modernization of the refinery. Total bauxite output in the month amounted to 525kt, down 35% year-over-year. This out turn brings year-to-date production to 8.2 million tonnes, which is 11% below the levels recorded over the same period in 2018. Crude bauxite output meanwhile fell by 30% to 183kt in the review month, down from 263kt in November 2018.
