Total bauxite production got a boost in May with all active enterprises increasing production. Notwithstanding, output was lower in comparison to the previous year due to Alpart’s suspension. Still, the month-on-month improvement speaks to the resilience of the industry, especially when taken in the context of the global health crisis, and it reflects the extent to which the producing plants are cushioning the year-on-year fall in production. In May, total bauxite amounted to 733kt, down 12% relative to the same period last year.
